The contract between Premiere Star and RTL Television foresees the two actors' cooperation lasting several years. The channel RTL Living will be included in the new Premiere Star package in September. The Premiere Thema package will include RTL Crime in October 2007, and the other special-interest channel Passion, run together with UFA, will be featured from January 2008. "We're very happy that our digital special-interest channels RTL Crime, Passion and RTL Living will now also be available to Premiere subscribers. Viewers are in for some first-class premieres on German television, including the crime series Hustle - Unehrlich währt am längsten (Hustle) and the sensuous cookery shows starring cult English lady chef Nigella Lawson", said Klaus Holtmann, head of RTL's digital special-interest channels. "The contract with Premiere Star marks an important step forward with respect to extending our range, because it makes our channels amongst the most widely distributed pay-TV channels in Germany. Now virtually any household can subscribe to them".
Dr Friedrich Heise, director of legal and business affairs at Grundy UFA, and CEO of Passion, together with Klaus Holtmann, added: "This first-time inclusion in Premiere Thema package shows that our strategy is on the right track and that Passion's programme schedule, including major daily series and high-quality first showings is proving equally popular with programme marketers and viewers".
