I joined RTL Group in May 2006 coming straight from RTL Interactive in Cologne.
My first contact with RTL Group was an internship at RTL Television in spring of 2001. Within six weeks, I had the opportunity to get a glimpse of several departments. Working creatively in the area of "Variety and Show" productions, captured my interest the most. Therefore I was thrilled to re-join RTL Television in 2002, when I started as an intern and became a producer trainee early 2003. After the end of my trainee program, I joined the team that build up RTL Group’s first digital channel "Traumpartner TV".
During my years at RTL Television, I always kept in good contact with managers who supported me right at the beginning. We regularly discussed next steps and opportunities. When the timing seemed right, I got the chance to send my CV to the right person at the Headquarter of RTL Group. This is how two years and two interviews later I got the green light to move to Luxembourg and start with a new position of strategy executive.
At this time, the Headquarter of RTL Group was an unknown territory to me. But from day one it became obvious that my move was the right choice. The team welcomed me with open arms. By coincidence my first day in the office was the same day as the big 2006 strategy meeting of RTL Group's top-management, this gave me a good taste of the extraordinary work ahead.
There is nothing more rewarding than working for a successful company that emphasizes also on some more "human touch" issues, like atmosphere and employee development. I think that a mix of excellent work and a constantly developing network is what really help young executives to move their career ahead. Your next development steps are not something you can really schedule, but you have to be ready to recognize and seize the opportunities when they open up.
