The positive trend of the two last radio surveys has been validated by the latest media analysis “ma 2005 Radio I” published in March 2005. According to the survey, the total reach of all group radio businesses increased by 5% to roughly 4.4 million listeners per average hour.
In the important Berlin market 104.6 RTL proved to be the only station with more than one million listeners and was able to increase the listener number per average hour by 6.5 per cent. Radio Brocken and 89.0 RTL in Saxony-Anhalt both came out stronger with the highest growth in listeners (24.000) and reach (11 %) respectively in their home market. Hit-Radio Antenne Niedersachsen confirmed its outstanding performance of 2004 and continues to be the number 1 station in Lower-Saxony. Antenne Bayern increased its listeners per average hour by an astonishing 102.000 to 789.000.
“Moreover, the results of the radio stations Radio Hamburg, radio NRW, BB Radio and Hitradio RTL Sachsen are also very encouraging”, commented Gert Zimmer, CEO of RTL Radio Germany “the excellent results demonstrate that our strategy of decentralised optimisation works”.
