In season two, users can look forward to 20 all-new episodes of the Pietshow, which will be simultaneously broadcast on StudiVZ, MeinVZ and 3min.de starting in October. The content will run on the 3min player, which will be integrated in StudiVZ and MeinVZ for the first time especially for the Pietshow. The collaboration is a response to the growing challenge of delivering sophisticated content for a burgeoning target audience on the Internet.
“The collaboration between Grundy UFA, 3min and the VZ networks points the way for the entire media industry,” declared Grundy UFA’s Managing Director, Rainer Wemcken. “The demand for professionally produced video content on the Internet is growing daily. For this reason, we have long since stopped seeing ourselves solely as a classic TV producer, and now see ourselves as a storyteller who can produce winning content for all sorts of distribution paths.”
The Grundy UFA production firm and the UFA casting website YourChance.de are still looking for an actor for the new season. Improvisational talent is of the essence: applicants have exactly 30 seconds to convince the series’ lead actor Piet that they are indispensable to the future of the show. Applications in the form of home videos are being accepted online at YourChance.de until 17 September 2009 – and the winner of the video audition will soon find him- or herself shooting the new episodes with the Pietshow team.
The Pietshow, a fictional documentary of the bizarre lives of a student named Piet and his flat-mates, is Germany’s most popular Web series to date. It has generated more than three million video views and was nominated for the International Digital Emmy Award.
