The Terminator RTL Klub to focus on series This spring, RTL Klub sets out to win over viewers with series. Several of the channel’s tried and tested favourites will also be returning to the screen.

In the upcoming spring season RTL Klub plans to strengthen its position both with returning programmes and with new shows. Péter Kolosi, the channel’s programming director, announces that RTL Klub has pulled together a line-up of series that is even stronger than last year’s, when choice was affected by the WGA strike in the U.S. Among other things, viewers will be treated to shows that only debuted in the USA a few months ago, including episodes of The Mentalist, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles, Fringe, Standoff and Damages.

The Mentalist

Besides series, which will rule the screen four nights a week, the channel will also pay special attention to films: Sunday night will remain a movie night on RTL Klub. In addition, the broadcaster has earmarked Wednesdays for airing international blockbusters (such as the latest episode of Star Wars) and several other films, in the making of which RTL Klub participated as a co-production partner. Mr. Kolosi mentions Megy a gozös (Train Keeps a Rollin’), Zuhanórepülés (Nosedive) and the sequel to Macskafogó (Cat City) as examples. Apart from all this, RTL Klub will dedicate the upcoming season to event television, which means that programmes will be linked to a particular event. For instance, 31 January will be Diana Day when the channel’s programmes will tie in to an exhibition presenting the life of the Princess. In what has become a tradition, the channel will provide live coverage of the Oscar gala. It will also air A királyno (The Queen), the final round of the combined beauty contests (Miss World and Miss Universe Hungary), for which preparations are already underway, and which is scheduled to air in May.

In addition, several “oldies but goodies” will return to the screen, such as Showder Klub (Stand up comedy Club), A Széf (Take it or Leave It), and Gálvölgyi-show (The Gálvölgyi Show), and Vacsoracsata (Come dine with me – celebrity version) will also be continued, Mr. Kolosi adds.
