Alice TV customers will be the only IPTV customers in Germany to watch all matches from the World Cup in South Africa in brilliant HD quality. In addition to the matches covered by the public-service channels ARD and ZDF, which have broadcast their programming in HD since February 2010, there will be nine World Cup matches broadcast by RTL Television (see RTLGroup.com report).
Andre Prahl, a member of the CBC management and in charge of Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland’s programme dissemination, says: “We are delighted that viewers can now enjoy our HD programming on IPTV as well.”
“The systematic, customer-centric extension of Alice TV’s offering is one of the key cornerstones in our growth strategy,” declares HanseNet CEO Lutz Schüler. “So we proud to have won Mediengruppe RTL Deutschland, one of Germany’s leading commercial TV groups, as our HD partner. This lets Alice TV customers watch all World Cup matches in HD quality at no additional cost.”
Both new and existing customers will receive the channels automatically and without surcharges for HD quality. The only thing needed – besides the Alice set-top box – is an HD-enabled TV set.
