The radio station that shows support On Monday morning RTL Radio France launched “RTL Solidarité Nuage” (“RTL Cloud Support”), an assistance plan for people trapped at airports.

For several days now, hundreds of thousands of people are finding themselves in precarious circumstances following the halt of air traffic over Europe due to the cloud of volcanic ash. RTL Radio France has launched a support operation to help people that are trapped and in difficulty far from home. It works on the same principle as RTL’s “Job Creation Day” (Journées RTL Emploi), which has enjoyed great success in the past year.

RTL Solidarité Nuage” is a dedicated space on RTL.fr where people looking for help and those offering assistance can correspond. Lodging, emergency needs, car sharing and good ideas are an example of the solutions being highlighted in this space.

RTL started relaying the earliest requests appearing on “RTL Solidarité Nuage” on Monday morning at 11:00, then on RTL Midi at 12:30 and on Les auditeurs ont la parole at 13:10. Help was not long in arriving, and by 11:20, the first offers were posted on the site: “We live 30 minutes from Roissy [airport] by car, and we have space for two to three people to sleep. If we can be of assistance, it will be our pleasure,” wrote Aby at 11:25.
