RTL Interactive, Logo,  2009, Teaser Anytime, anywhere Professionally produced video content continued to drive growth on the German-language Internet in 2009. RTL Interactive’s websites record unbroken popularity.
 
Views of professionally produced, marketable videos on RTL Interactive portals (not including N-TV and Super RTL sites) increased by 30 per cent to nearly 30 million video views per month on average in 2009. They already account for more than two thirds of all video views across all platforms. In all, the portals produced by RTL Interactive plus the N-TV and Netzathleten websites marketed by IP Deutschland reach 14.39 million Unique Users, which translates to a reach of 33.1 per cent among all German Internet users.

According to the AGOF Internet facts III 2009, RTL.de remained Germany’s leading infotainmemt portal in 2009, with over 6.49 million Unique Users per month. Compared with the previous year, the traffic to RTL.de increased further: its monthly average of 47 million visits represent an 18 per cent increase. The average monthly views of Web clips have increased by 90 per cent, to 7 million a month.

The video-on-demand sector also continued to grow in 2009. Around one million Unique Users per month generated an average of more than 11 million video views a month on RTL Now. This translates to year-on-year growth of 16 per cent. The third pillar in RTL Interactive’s video portfolio is Clipfish, which reaches around 1.5 million Unique Users and already generates a record 60 per cent of its views in the important marketable area of professionally produced videos.

The special-interest portals Kochbar.de and Frauenzimmer.de have successfully established themselves on the Internet.The Kochbar.de community now has 100,000 registered members and a quarter of a million recipes make it the largest recipe database in German Internet. Frauenzimmer.de now has 170,000 registered members.

In 2009, Wer-kennt-wen.de established itself at the top of the rankings of German social networks. With 6.75 million Unique Users per month, Wer-kennt-wen.de is by far the leading social network according to the AGOF Internet Facts III 09. The platform now has more than 7.3 million registered members.

RTL’s mobile portal registered an increase in monthly Page Impressions thanks in part to a resolute integration of video content and the presentation of new iPhone Apps tying in to RTL shows and programming such as Formula 1, Das Supertalent (Germany’s Got Talent) and Wer wird Millionär? (Who Wants To Be A Millionaire?).

An average 5.77 million viewers a day accessed RTL Television’s Teletext service. RTL managed to further cement its market leadership among younger viewers in the 14 to 49 age group year on year, attracting 4.27 million Teletext readers per day, for an 18.1 per cent share of the market.
