This puts Teufelskicker at No.4 in the ranking of the weekend’s most-watched films in German cinemas. “Teufelskicker was the most successful new release this weekend,” says a happy Thomas Peter Friedl, managing director of UFA Cinema. “Ahead of us only the U.S. blockbusters Alice in Wunderland, Scorsese’s Shutter Island and Avatar, still going strong. With 130,000 visitors on opening weekend, we have exceeded our own plan. This is also an excellent result given the fact that spring break hasn’t begun yet.”

Teufelskicker has had a strong start similar to that of Die Wilden Kerle (142,000 visitors, with the release date falling on a bank holiday Friday) and Die Wilden Hühner und die Liebe (with 130,000 visitors). Both films ended up attracting around 900,000 - 1.0 million visitors and resulted in the most successful German teenager franchises in recent history.
