Lamourestdanslepre_Chatons_3_teaser “The goal is to find love” Monday evening marked the start of Season 5 of L’amour est dans le pré, M6’s romantic programme that has been an undeniable success over the past seasons.

The principle, well known by now, is always the same: men and women farmers are looking for their better half, but that isn’t always easy to find. Airing in prime time starting at 20:45, M6 follows their romance step by step, with stories that are moving, sometimes funny, and that always succeed in touching the hearts of French viewers. In fact, there were an average of 4.7 million viewers who watched the opening of the letters from the female and male candidates, representing a total audience share of 18.9 per cent. On Monday night M6 was the most-watched channel in prime time. At 22:25, L’amour est dans le pré even registered a peak audience of 6 million viewers.

This fifth season is a first for presenter Karine Le Marchand, who seems quite at ease in her role as guide, knowing how to listen and also how to reassure the more timid ones who start to doubt themselves. She always has a comforting word to offer and, when some farmers remark, somewhat vexed, that they received far fewer letters from candidates than others, she kindly tells them: “Each year, some receive less mail than others, but it doesn’t mean anything. In life, all it takes is one letter.” This remark leaves them with a smile on their face.

Sylvie is 30 years old and raises horses. In terms of character, she is a true ray of sunshine and always has a smile on her lips. However, viewers see tears in her eyes when she reads a letter that especially moves her (story to be continued).

In the second part of the evening, M6 aired an exclusive documentary called L’amour est dans le pré : que sont-ils devenus ? and there again, the show was a great success with 3.8 million viewers for a total audience share of 29.6 per cent and even a 31.3 per cent of viewers under 50. M6 was also the most watched television channel in the second part of the evening on Monday night.

Karine Le Marchand calls Nicolas the “serial lover”. Showered with letters, he invites 10 candidates to a speed date in Paris, and one after the other falls under his spell. Nicolas has the hardest time choosing just two who will accompany him to his farm in the Aveyron. His objective: to find the woman of his life before he reaches the age of 30 (he is 27). We’re betting that he will find her.

Starting next Monday, M6 invites all romantics from France and Navarre to watch a new edition of L’amour est dans le pré, starting at 20:40.
