Rainer Wemcken, Managing Director of Grundy UFA, says: “We are pleased that Sat.1 is venturing to add a new daily series to its programming. Over recent years, we have shown that we are capable of keeping an audience of millions inspired with our stories.”
The new soap revolves around Manuela Berlett (Marie Zielcke - photo), who hasn’t had an easy life. After eight years of marriage, she finds herself raising her little son Daniel on her own. Just as the impulsive young woman is getting to grips with her life, the unthinkable happens: her ex-husband Ralf revokes her custody of Daniel. Manu receives help from an unexpected quarter: Mark Braun, the arrogant but savvy general manager of the high-end hotel where she has a cleaning job. He helps Manu get back on her feet and gives her the courage needed to cope with the long struggle for Daniel. Not until much later does she realise that he is being anything but altruistic…
Joachim Kosack, Head of the German Fiction department at Sat.1, says: “Our new daily soap builds on the classic Cinderella principle, but rather than meekly accepting the dregs, the protagonist walks her path proudly and takes what is hers by right - in the world of hotel etiquette, no less. One of the reasons she fights so vehemently is that she has a son who is taken away from her right at the beginning, an unprecedented and especially exciting point of departure for a German daily soap.“
Markus Brunnemann, Managing Director of Phoenix Film, adds: “This daily format has all the right ingredients: an outstanding cast, gripping stories and an interesting setting.”
