, RTL Interactive, M6 Web RTL Interactive pursues international expansion of its games business In a co-operation between RTL Interactive and the French TV channel M6, the Gamechannel, already established in Germany, now launches in France, too. The browser games portal with social gaming features is now in open beta testing.
In Germany, entered open beta testing in February 2011, and has since become established among gamers with its 13 games and numerous social gaming features. The new French portal is targeted at all gamers from ‘core gamers’ to more casual occasional gamers; it launches with the six high-quality browser games My Free Farm, Pirate Galaxy, Steel Legions, Nemexia, Online Fußballmanager and Supremacy 1914. Following a one-time free registration process, users can log a profile in the browser games platform and design an individual profile. Gamers also have the opportunity to use extensive social gaming and community features. The portfolio includes high-quality games from all the relevant genres, such as strategy, action, and simulation.

Michael Heise, Head of Online and Teletext at RTL Interactive, says: “By launching, we want to enrich the French market for browser games with new social gaming features. Online gaming, especially the free-to-play browser games sector, is an important growth market.”

The social gaming and community features lets members network with other players, to see what games they are active in and track their successes, for instance. They can also chat with them and send messages. One very special feature is that gamers can play their way into a global list of Gamechannel high scores across all of the games on the portal. A specially developed global system ranks them based on experience, skill and activity level across all games.

The Gamechannel browser games deliver a long-term gaming experience in a ‘persistent world’, meaning that events in the game continue to happen even when gamers aren't active. The games work entirely in the Web browser without the need additional downloads or software installations.

RTL Interactive developed, produced and designed the portal itself. The games were integrated in cooperation with partners including Bigpoint, Upjers, Innogames and Splitscreen Studios.

With, RTL Interactive has operated one of Germany’s most popular casual gaming sites for over ten years.
