Zeiler received the Content Owner Revolutionizing Entertainment (Core) Award for Executive of the Year in acknowledgment of his consistent ability to build profitability and value in the ever-evolving television and content industry. According to the organisers of the NAB Show, the award also praised Gerhard Zeiler’s impressive track record when it comes to recognising and acquiring phenomenal television hits, such as American Idol, America's Got Talent, and X Factor, as well as RTL Group's acquisition of Original Productions and Radical Media. In his honorific speech, Mark Kaner, President of News Corp’s Twentieth Century Fox Television Distribution, especially praised Gerhard Zeiler’s “passion for programming”.
Alongside Gerhard Zeiler, the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) honoured Ted Sarandos, Chief Content Officer of Netflix, with the Core Award for Innovator of the Year on behalf of Netflix.
NAB Show, held 14 to 19 April 2012 in Las Vegas, is the world's largest electronic media show covering filmed entertainment and the development, management and delivery of content across all mediums. More than 90,000 attendees from 151 countries and 1,500+ exhibitors attend the NAB Show marketplace for digital media and entertainment. It is organised by the National Association of Broadcasters, the premier advocacy association for US broadcasters.
