An average 7.36 million viewers watched the finale, with an excellent 31.8 per cent of 14 to 49 year-olds tuning in – in absolute numbers, 4.09 million viewers in this demographic. The late-night decision show beginning at 00:41 was watched by 4.88 million viewers over the age of 3 – or 34.0 per cent of all viewers – and a remarkable 41 per cent of 14 to 49 year-olds.
The victory of Yvo Antoni and his 3-year-old Jack Russell Terrier PrimaDonna was the closest decision in the history of the show. Antoni scored 13.5 per cent of the viewers’ votes, while Vanessa Calcagno’s rendition of Oh Mio Babbino Caro impelled 13.4 per cent of viewers to call.

While PrimaDonna was so terrified at the news of the victory that she ran straight out of the studio, Yvo Antoni was delighted to be named “Supertalent 2009” and win the EUR 100,000 prize. “I would never have thought that I would win. Germans clearly love dogs,” said the 30-year-old. He plans to use his winnings to pay off the house that he had just bought. In all, 37,000 candidates had auditioned for this year’s series.
From the end of January, “Das Supertalent live auf Tournee” will be touring Germany, bringing the twelve finalists from the TV studio directly to the people who cheered for them during the competition and supported them by voting. From 26 January to 9 February 2010, the talented entertainers will bring their impressive, breathtaking and brilliant acts to Ludwigsburg, Kempten, Mannheim, Erfurt, Berlin, Cologne, Hamburg, Oberhausen, Hannover, Halle/Westfalen, Zwickau and Dresden.
