On Thursday Médiamétrie published the results of its survey for the January-March 2010 period. Once again, RTL Radio France is by far the number one station in the country, for the 15th consecutive survey. Even more listeners are tuning in to RTL Radio every day than last year during the same period.

RTL Radio is experiencing a vigorous upswing. Ratings for France’s number one radio station are on the rise, with a +0.2 point increase in cumulative audience and a +0.3 point increase in audience share. RTL Radio confirms its status as a leader yet again: with an increase of more than 148,000 listeners, the station is seeing its biggest increase in cumulative audience since November-December 2007 (for 9 waves) and, with a 12.8 per cent audience share, RTL Radio has reached its highest level since November-December 2008.

Breaking away from the peloton and surging far ahead, RTL Radio has 1,083,000 more listeners than the number two station, which represents an increase of 22 per cent.
Vincent Parizot’s morning show, with more than 4.13 million listeners, an increase of 78,000 listeners, is the most listened to programme in France from 7:00 to 9:30 (cumulative audience). The high point: the quarter hour most listened to on radio belongs to RTL Radio’s 8:00 news, which draws 2 million listeners. At 8:45, humorist Laurent Gerra has more than 1.9 million followers and has more than doubled the distance between himself and his number two competitor. RTL Soir, presented by Christophe Hondelatte, shows an excellent performance, notably with a +38 per cent increase in cumulative audience for On Refait le Monde.

“On RTL, no fluffy comments, no stupid shows, no politically correct circumstances, but professionals who are serious about news, high-calibre columnists – it’s very reassuring in terms of the impartiality of the news – and also distraction and laughter”. These comments do not come from RTL Radio, but from a listener who is apparently satisfied with the station.
